Updated November 27, 2020.
This can't really be called an end-of-season message, because we didn't have a season, but it seems fitting to be reaching out to everyone at this time of year.
2020 certainly threw everyone off-kilter and scattered ACR members across the region (and further) in search of flat water and access to equipment. However, we are still ACR, no matter where we row, and we wanted to celebrate the strength and joy in our shared experiences as a community of rowers -- this is what ACR is all about and why it is so meaningful, even when we can't row together in the same place.
Some Steering Committee members participated in the photo story (https://animoto.com/play/EecR11eCmRPeCyJWXw78wQ) to demo our collective pride in and love for ACR. We hope you'll submit your own "We Are ACR" photo, to be shared on the website. Send photos to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are hopeful for a 2021 season. Please stay safe and healthy until we can row together again. In the meantime, we wish you and yours all the best for the upcoming holiday season.
Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS), in case you hadn't heard, has cancelled all winter sports. Until ACPS clears TC Williams for any kind of rowing activity/season, ACR's own potential for programs remains shuttered. The Dockmasters continue to monitor the situation; they are hopeful to be able to make a final decision regarding 2021 programming by February 1, 2021.

Unfortunately, even though we didn't get to row this year, there are things called "maintenance" and "insurance" for which ACR is still required to pay. Not having programs doesn't release us of our obligations (because we are "mostly" responsible adults). Our budget includes some cushioning to be able to cover immediate costs, but because of the uncertainty of programming, we are trying to plan ahead to be able to cover these required expenses for future years before we have an urgent need for the income. In addition, our main fundraiser, the Erg Sprints Cafe, is likely a thing of the past.
Ordering ACR gear via the team store is one way that directly supports the club. It is still open and available and ACR gets 15% of all the sales. Consider getting some awesome ACR gear for yourself, friends, and family. Orders are shipped directly to the purchaser's home, so you'll know when to expect your stuff. Please direct any team store questions to Pam Jones, firstname.lastname@example.org. The direct team store link is: https://teamlocker.squadlocker.com/#/lockers/277834?_k=6o04ls
